I did look at some pictures, although none were up close on the rear, and the LED Trailer Light w/ Reflector # 328-003-85 and # 328-003-85L are the closest we carry in appearance.   The LED Trailer Tail Light # 328-003-85L you were looking at installs via the four mounting holes on the back of the light which you access after removing the lens of the light as you can see Jeff demonstrating at the :45 second mark of the included video. You will use the four mounting screws from your 2017 Forest River Forester 2861DS to mount the bracket to your trailer after making the wiring connections, and then reinstall the lens.

  Hello Elke, thanks for reaching out. The drivers side mate for the # 328-003-85 taillight is part # 328-003-85L. The drivers side light has a bracket for the license plate, as well as two bottom LEDs to illuminate the license plate. Technically you could use a passenger side light if you had to, but you would have to come up with another way to attach or illuminate the license plate.
